Presentation

Abdominal pain.

Age: 16 years
Gender: Male
ultrasound

Multiple hypoechoic tubular structures with well-defined echogenic walls seen within the lumen of small bowel consistent with ascariasis.

Case Discussion

Ascariasis is due to infection with the Ascaris lumbricoides adult worm, and typically presents with gastrointestinal or pulmonary symptoms, depending on the stage of development.
