Presentation
Colicky abdominal pain.
Patient Data
In the image we can observe the presence of a filling defect in the barium in the sigmoid-descending colon.
Case Discussion
Infections by nematodes are transmitted through the fecal-oral route, and usually correspond to endemic and specific conditions of developing countries, WHO reports approximately 2 billion people suffering from these infections, with the pediatric population being the most affected, this is due to the greater contact they have with the sources of contamination and that they are less likely to wash their hands properly.
The vast majority of patients usually have an asymptomatic course of the disease or usually consult for non-specific abdominal pain. In the fluoroscopic single contrast exam an elongated filling defect is identified and occasionally there may be opacification of the lumen of the worm by the contrast medium.
