Intra-articular synovial sarcoma

10 yr / Boy. C/o knee pain - 6 mths. No significant trauma. On examination - quadriceps weakness. USG - To check quadriceps muscle tendon.





Case Discussion

US - There is a solid lesion in suprapatellar region deep to quadriceps tendon. Lesion is anterior to distal end of femur. Patella is noted at lower pole of the lesion seperately.  No effusion is seen in joint. Quadriceps and patellar tendons and Hoffa's fat pad normal.

MR - Non contrast study -  Similar findings regarding morphology.  Images are NOT available to upload.

Arthroscopy - Lesion was excised. No other abnormality apart from this lesion was noted in scopy.

After  all of above work up , final proven diagnosis is synovial sarcoma of knee.
