Intraductal papilloma

Case contributed by Fazel Rahman Faizi
Diagnosis probable

Presentation

Right breast lump for 1.5 years.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Female
mammography

There is a well-defined opacity with an irregular outline in the subareolar region of the right breast (best appreciated in MLO projection). The left breast appears normal.

ultrasound

On complementary ultrasound, a well-circumscribed, parallel, echogenic mass with foci of calcification is noted in the subareolar region of the right breast. Dilated retroareolar ducts are noted. No significant vascularity of the lesion is noted.

Case Discussion

Calcifications may be present in up to 50% of papillary neoplasms. Due to the high prevalence of atypia and malignant transformation, excision of these lesions is suggested.
