Case contributed by Hoe Han Guan

Patient Data

IAM Protocol

A small well defined lesion is seen arising from the intracanalicular portion of right vestibulocochlear nerve. This lesion demonstrates low signal intensity on both T1 weighted and T2 weighted sequences with intense enhancement on post gadolinium administration.

Case Discussion

MR features are almost certain that the avid enhancing lesion at the right internal auditory canal, near the cochlear aperture, is vestibular schwannoma

Careful scrutinisation of the internal auditory canal for small enhancing lesions is crucial for any patient who presents with sensorineural hearing loss.
