Non-contrast CT of the brain demonstrates an acute intracerebral hemorrhage centered in the basal ganglia of the left hemisphere causing a midline shift to the right side with effacement of the left lateral ventricle.
There is an extension into the left lateral ventricle (intraventricular hemorrhage).
Case Discussion
CT features are characteristic of a large left basal ganglia hemorrhage secondary to hypertension with intraventricular extension.
