Presentation

Patient presented for screening mammogram, and reported a recently palpable mass in the right breast.

Patient Data

Age: 68
Gender: Female
mammography

There is a well circumscribed subareolar mass on the right. Apart from this, the screening mammogram series is normal, and notably there are no other circumscribed masses in either breast.

Comparison with the previous mammogram confirms that this is a new finding.  There was no abnormality in the same location on the prior screening round.

ultrasound

Ultrasound demonstrates a lobulated mass protruding from a dilated duct into a cystic space.  Doppler confirms internal vascularity.

Case Discussion

Ultrasound guided core biopsy, followed by excision biopsy confirm benign intraductal papilloma.
