Presentation
Screening mammography. The previous mammography was BIRADS DD2 LD2.
Patient Data
There is an oval homogenous shadow in the lower lateral quadrant of the left breast.
Additional ultrasound was requested.
There is an oval, well circumscribed, hypoechogenic lesion on the 4 o'clock, in the periphery of the left breast, around 6 cm from the nipple. The lesion has a discrete central hyperechogenic stripe, has some posterior enhancement and has no increased vascularity.
Case Discussion
Screening mammography for the 55-year-old patient, mother of two. Her menarche was at the age of 17 and her mother has colon cancer. She smokes 20 cigarettes/day.
The first reader graded the mammography as BIRADS 2 bilaterally, and the second one and the supervisor as BIRADS 4a for the left breast.
On the ultrasonography, the lesion had a benign presentation, and the report was BIRADS DD2 LD2.
6-month follow-up interval was advised.
