Well-circumscribed lobulated mass measuring 43 x 32 x 22 mm centered on the vastus lateralis muscle, isointense to the muscles on T1, hyperintense on T2, and STIR with blood-filled cavities as well as phleboliths of low signal T2 and peripheral rim of fatty signal well-visualized on T1 sequences. The post-contrast sequences show a prominent heterogeneous enhancement.
Case Discussion
MRI features most consistent with an intramuscular hemangioma.
