Intramuscular hemangioma - psoas muscle

Case contributed by Dr Roberto Schubert

Incidental finding in inexplicable abdominal pain.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Female

There is a well-circumscribed lobulated lesion centered on the left psoas muscle, homogeneous hypointense to the muscles on T1WI, hyperintense on T2WI, and T2 fat sat. The T1 fat sat postcontrast sequences show a prominent peripheral enhancement with centripetal fill-in on delayed phase.

Case Discussion

MRI features are suggestive of a soft tissue hemangioma of intramuscular location on the left psoas muscle.
