- within the vastus intermedius and vastus lateralis muscle bellis, there is a 30 x 40 x 60 mm mm intramuscular mass-like lesion surrounded by edema and inflammatory changes along with left thigh middle a third portion
- on the T1 and T2 fat suppression sequenceses, the mass is hyperintense in the periphery with central iso- hypointense
- the normal signal intensity of the other muscles and femur
Case Discussion
Soft tissue hematomas can often simulate neoplastic disorders, it is important to have clear information about the appearance of the traumatic lesions that were preceded by traumatic injuries. MRI is one of the best imaging methods to differentiate hematoma from infiltrating processes although it can still be difficult to differentiate between hematoma and solid neoplastic masses.
