Incidental finding during pelvic CT.
Patient Data
An oval-shaped well-defined lesion with pure fat density is noted within the complete confinement of the muscular fascia of the proximal segment of the right sartorius muscle. It gently splays the muscle bulk posteromedially with no evidence of intramuscular extension or connection to the subcutaneous tissue.
Urinary bladder wall thickening and stranding of perivesical fat.
Case Discussion
This is an incidental finding during follow-up CT pelvic examination of a case with post-endoscopic resection of bladder tumor followed by radiotherapy. The current study showed only urinary bladder wall thickening and stranding of perivesical fat suggestive of radiation cystitis. Endoscopic biopsy was recommended to exclude the possibility of a recurrent tumor.
Intramuscular lipoma is an unusual and uncommon entity. It can be well circumscribed or infiltrative. It is confined to the fascia covering the muscle and extends through it. It commonly affects the large muscles of the limbs and the trunk 1.
