Intramuscular lipoma - latissimus dorsi

Right posterolateral thoracic wall painless mass sensation.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Female

Well-circumscribed, homogeneous high signal (T1/T2) mass measuring about 40*45*60 within the latissimus dorsi muscle on the right side that shows signal drop on fat suppression sequences

No evidence of thick septa, edematous changes, or local invasion.

Case Discussion

MRI features are highly suggestive of benign type intramuscular lipoma

The main differential diagnosis is liposarcoma: usually with thick septa, enhancement, or evidence of local invasion.
