Presentation

For cholecystectomy.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male

No filling defect within the extra-hepatic bile ducts. Free passage of contrast into the duodenum. No contrast extravasation to suggest bile duct injury. 

Case Discussion

Intra-operative cholangiograms (IOC) are performed during a cholecystectomy by the surgeon, who cannulates the cystic duct and injects iodinated contrast under fluoroscopy. IOCs are performed to assess biliary anatomy and for choledocholithiasis.
