Presentation

Recurrent right wrist pain at the lateral aspect increased by flexion.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Female
x-ray

First carpometacarpal osteoarthritis.

Incidental node on a well-defined lucent lesion inside the scaphoid bone, indicating a bone cyst.

Case Discussion

The first carpometacarpal joint is the most commonly involved in carpometacarpal osteoarthritis.

A scaphoid bone cyst may be an intraosseous ganglion cyst or a simple bone cyst. It carries a risk for pathological fracture.
