Presentation

Trauma. To rule out a right hip fracture. Incidental finding on CT scan.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Female

A small well-defined lobulated gas-containing left sacral cystic structure with a thin sclerotic margin, abutting the joint. No communication was seen with the adjacent sacroiliac joint.

No bony fracture was seen.

Case Discussion

Intraosseous pneumatocysts are usually incidental findings seen as gas-containing cystic structures within the bone, not communicating with the joint. The most common site of involvement is the sacroiliac joints.
