Heterogeneous area of hypoattenuation within liver segment 2 of the liver in keeping with a hepatic contusion. No active hemorrhage is identified. No parenchymal laceration, capsular or subcapsular hematoma.
Left interpolar region subcapsular hematoma with adjacent fat stranding and fluid. Small volume of perisplenic fluid.
Case Discussion
Intraparenchymal hepatic contusions are less common injuries than lacerations or subcapsular hematomas. This contusion measured up to 4 cm, making this a AAST grade II liver injury.
