Intussusception due a small bowel lymphoma

28 Y/O female with recent severe weight loss and anemia .

Patient Data

Age: 28
Gender: Female
Modality: CT

Diffuse intestinal wall thickening is seen at proximal of small bowel. Bowel-within-bowel appearance is noted at left lower quadrant which is called as target sign on axial images. There is also multiple mesenteric lymphadenopathies.

Case Discussion

The findings of CT are compatible with ileoileal intussusception in 28 Y/O female with small bowel lymphoma.

The appearance of intussusception is characteristic and depends on the imaging plane and where along the bowel images are obtained : 

Gastrointestinal neoplasm are the most common cause of intussusception in adults1.
