Presentation

Intermittent abdominal pain.

Patient Data

Age: 2 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Supine abdominal radiograph.

Mild dilatation of bowel loops in the right upper quadrant adjacent a subtle donut shaped soft tissue density. No evidence of pneumoperitoneum. 

ultrasound

Ultrasound examination of the right upper quadrant demonstrated bowel within the bowel, with a classic target sign. 

Case Discussion

Both x-ray and ultrasound findings are in keeping with intussusception. The patient was transferred to a dedicated pediatric hospital for further management.
