Invasive ductal breast cancer

Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Abnormal screening mammogram. No clinical complaints. No history of breast cancer in the family.

Patient Data

Age: 60
Gender: Female

Breast parenchyma density: Heterogeneously dense (ACR type c).

Findings: In the left breast, at 12 o'clock, there is a round, spiculated, high density mass of 14 mm in diameter.

In the left breast, at 12 o'clock, there is a spiculated mass of 14 mm in diameter. Color Doppler showed no hypervascularzation. Shear wave elastography showed very high values in the margins.

Case Discussion

Ultrasound guided needle biopsy was performed. Histology showed invasive ductal breast cancer (no special type, NST).

Note the superior visibility of the mass in the digital breast tomosynthesis.
