Invasive ductal breast cancer (no special type, NST) and ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS)

Presentation

Abnormal Screening mammogram. No clinical complaints. Familiy history of breast cancer, sister at the age of 59.

Patient Data

Age: 60
Gender: Female

Breast parenchyma density: Heterogeneously dense (ACR type c).

Findings:

In the right breast, at 12 o'clock, there is a round, spiculated, high density mass of 17 mm in diameter.

In the left breast, at 8 o'clock, there are suspicious calcifications.

In the right breast, at 12 o'clock, there is a spiculated mass of 12 mm in diameter. Color Doppler showed hypervascularzation in the margins. Shear wave elastography showed very high values in the margins.

Case Discussion

Ultrasound guided biopsy was performed on the right side. Histology showed invasive ductal carcinoma (no special type, NST).

Vacuum-assisted core biopsy was performed on the left side. Histology showed ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS).
