Presentation
History of trauma 2 days back.
Patient Data
The proximal pole of the capitate shows focal areas of marrow edema, in keeping with a bony bruise/microfracture.
Minimal joint effusion seen in the peri-scaphoid and peri-triquetrum joint space, furthermore, this effusion is seen to engulf the channel around the capitate.
The carpal joint spaces shows normal parallelism and symmetry with normal carpal arcs. No features of instability.
Subcutaneous plane shows mild edema changes.
Complementary CT screening confirmed the above MRI findings with superior bony details.
Special thanks: Dr. H.K Anand
There is a definitive cortical breach across the proximal pole of capitate, in keeping with microfracture.
Case Discussion
This case demonstrates undisplaced capitate microfracture with secondary intercarpal effusion. No concurrent other carpal bone fracture.
