Prenatal ultrasound showed abnormally curved femora

Patient Data

Age: 5 monthes
Gender: Male

There is symmetrical mild bowing of the femur, convex laterally with resultant genu varum.

Case Discussion

  • congenital long bone bowing can be a manifestation of a congenital pathological condition and requires a thorough review of other systems
  • isolated congenital long bone bowing can be a familial feature with autosomal dominance inheritance and may improve with age  
  • follow up was recommended at 2 years of age
