Marrow edema centered within the right greater trochanter with a linear hypointense line through its base on PD and T1 sequences. Gluteus medius and minimus tendons are intact. Periosteal edema with mild adjacent gluteal muscle belly hyperintensity.
Case Discussion
This case demonstrates an undisplaced fracture through the greater trochanter. The attaching gluteus minimus and medius tendons are intact. These fractures generally result from forceful muscle contraction of a fixed limb, as in this case.
