Case contributed by Dr Bahman Rasuli

Coccyx pain after falling down.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female

Isolated S5 fracture associated with the edema/bruise around the sacrococcygeal joint and S4-S5 level.

Case Discussion

Isolated lower segment sacral fractures are very rare. Trauma patients with coccyx pain and tenderness should raise concerns about sacrococcygeal fracture/dislocation. A neurologic deficit in lower sacral segment fractures is also rare.
