Isolated optic neuritis

Presentation

A patient presented with left eye pain and impaired vision for three days

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Female
mri

The left optic nerve is thickened/edematous and showing increased signal intensity in T2WIs with effacement of the peri optic CSF space

In the post-contrast series, there is a diffuse enhancement of the optic nerve from the optic disk to the optic chiasma. An incidental developmental venous anomaly in the right frontal lobe (partially imaged). No features of MS. 

Case Discussion

Optic neuritis could be isolated pattern (like in this case) or associated with multiple sclerosis.
