Isolated pisiform fracture

There is an isolated comminuted fracture of the pisiform bone with a central depression of its dorsal cortex. Surrounding soft tissue edema is seen.
No other fractures or dislocation. No malalignment. Intact distal radioulnar joint.
Case Discussion
Pisiform fracture is a rare type of carpal fractures, and about 50 % of pisiform fractures are associated with other carpal fractures.
The pisiform serves as the insertion for the flexor carpi ulnaris and the abductor digiti quinti, and an attachment for the transverse carpal ligament.
