Non-contrast MRI shows a complete tear of the scapholunate ligament, with more prominent retraction at the volar aspect, without any bone lesions or other ligamentous lesions.
Case Discussion
Disruptions of the scapholunate ligament are a frequent occurrence after a fall on the outstretched hand, along with fractures of the distal radius and fractures of the scaphoid.
Left untreated, they may lead to chronic carpal instability with DISI deformity and subsequent SLAC (scapholunate advanced collapse).
