Presentation
Pain at the base of the second metacarpal after trauma.
Patient Data
Trapezoid bone shows non displaced vertically oriented fracture associated with bone marrow edema/bone bruise.
No evidence of loose body. Joint spaces are preserved. The reminder carpal bones are
unremarkable, with no evidence of other fractures or malalignment.
Triangular fibrocartilage shows abnormal fluid signal at the proximal peripheral attachment and fluid in the distal radioulnar joint.
Case Discussion
Trapeziod fractures are uncommon carpal bone injuries. They can either occur in isolation or in combination with another carpal bony injury.
