Case contributed by Dr Maulik S Patel

H/o fall on ground - 3 days. C/o backache.

Patient Data

Age: about 45 yrs
Gender: Female

No compression fracture.

An 'intra-uterine' device is seen abutting left anterior abdominal wall with horizontal orientation.

Ultrasound was done to localized IUD.

A linear structure ( with two parellar lines and bifercation  ) is noted in left lower abdomen.

It is just deep to left rectus and lateral to inferior epigastric vessels. It is surrounded by fat.

It moves with respiration.

Uterine cavity is empty.

Case Discussion

According to Patient, IUCD dislodged about 21 years ( correct years.. ) back. Two time ultrasound was done and uterine cavity was empty. It was presumed to be outside body. No  radiograph was taken.

Findings suggest an intraperitoneal IUCD with silent uterine perforation.
