A right posterior perinephric initially hyperdense hematoma is noted, measuring about 4 x 8 x 8 cm. It is seen abutting the posterior and inferior aspects of the right kidney. It is encroaching upon the renal pelvis with mild pelvicalyceal dilatation. Patent and intact right renal artery and vein, no active extravasation.

One of the limbs of the IVC filter is seen protruding outside the wall of the IVC and is seen embedded with it, with other limbs of the filter seen piercing the wall of the IVC. It is associated with mild retroperitoneal fluid collection traced along the anterior border of the right psoas muscle.

Case Discussion

Features of right perirenal hematoma likely due to one of the IVC filter limbs.
