Presentation
A hard oral cavity swelling.
Patient Data
An oval rounded shadow with defined regular dense margins is noted over the body of the right side of the mandible.
The lesion appears to originate from the inner cortex of the right alveolar process of the mandible and continues with the medullary cavity projecting from the inner aspect of the bony cortex between the lower 1st and 2nd premolar tooth.
Case Discussion
Osteochondroma is also known as osteocartilaginous exostosis. It arises from the bone cortex as an exophytic lesion with a hyaline cartilaginous cap. Osteochondroma is one of the most common benign tumors of bone. Although osteochondroma is rarely seen at the head and neck region.
