Thickening and edematous changes are noted at the posterior and proximal fibers of the patellar tendon at the site of its origin at the inferior pole of the patella.
Osseous hypertrophy and marrow edema are noted at the inferior pole of the patella.
Case Discussion
Findings are in keeping with jumper's knee. It is chronic patellar tendinitis characterized by increased AP diameter and altered signal of the proximal attachment of the patellar tendon, especially its posterior fibers.
