Bilateral and symmetrical T2 hyperintensities involving the posteromedial aspect of the globus pallidi and subthalamic nuclei with normal DWI/ADC.
Case Discussion
The clinical history of severe neonatal hyperbilirubinemia and the MRI features of bilateral T2 hyperintensities of the posteromedial aspect of the globus pallidi and subthalamic nuclei are most consistent with kernicterus.
