Chronic wrist pain.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Male
x-ray
  • irregularity, collapse, and sclerosis of the lunate bone indicate Kienbock disease

  • no obvious ulnar negative variance

ct
  • collapsed and sclerosed lunate bone

  • no significant lunate rotation or abnormal distance from the scaphoid

  • normal the other carpal bones and no evidence of osteoarthritis

  • no evidence of negative ulnar variance

Case Discussion

Kienbock disease is the idiopathic AVN of the lunate bone, seen mostly in younger adults and associated with negative ulnar variance.
