The lunate bone is sclerotic, deformed and fragmented, accompanied by degenerative changes as sub-chondral sclerosis and joint space narrowing in the radiocarpal joint.
Negative ulnar variance is also evident.
Case Discussion
Findings are compatible with Kienböck disease, a type of osteonecrosis that involves the lunate. A significant association is present between negative ulnar variance and Kienböck disease.
