MRI study of the knee shows a moderate effusion outlining a frond-like tissue projecting inward at the suprapatellar pouch, with high T1 signal that is suppressed on fat saturation sequences. Note the severe osteoarthritic changes with osteophyte formation, osteochondral lesions, ACL tear, and abnormal menscial signal.
This case shows frond like projections of thickened synovium within the supra-patellar pouch that demonstrate high T1 signal and follow fat signal with fat suppression on PDFS and STIR, consistent with lipoma arborescens.
