Lumbar Spine CT

Burst fracture at L1 with mild retropulsion of the posterior vertebral body margin into the canal. 

Lumbar Spine X-ray

Modality: X-ray

L1 burst fracture. There is greater loss of vertebral body height on the right than the left leading to mild focal scoliosis. 

Case Discussion

Typical appearance of an L1 burst type vertebral body fracture with mild retropulsion of the posterior vertebral body margin. This fracture is the result of axial loading.
