Using a supraneural approach and under CT fluoroscopy, a 22 gauge Quincke needed was used to gain an appropriate position. Injection of gas as contrast confirms an epidural and needle tip position, and then the steroid-containing injectate was given. No immediate complications.
Case Discussion
A contrast agent, either gas or iodinated contrast should be used in CT-guided transforaminal epidural steroid injections to confirm a desired epidural the needle tip position, and also an extra-vascular position.
