Presentation
Profound SNHL post-meningoencephalitis.
Patient Data

Patchy density within the cochleae (right > left), lateral and superior semicircular canals bilaterally and partially the right posterior semicircular canal as well as partial involvement of the vestibules representing the abnormal deposition of bone within.

Loss of normal T2 high signal of the fluid-filled spaces of the membranous labyrinth in the cochleae (right > left), lateral and superior semicircular canals bilaterally and partially the right posterior semicircular canal as well as partial involvement of the vestibules with corresponding changes on the recent CT representing abnormal osseous deposition within denoting labyrinthitis ossificans.
Case Discussion
The described CT and MRI findings are compatible with labyrinthitis ossificans. It occurs here as a sequela of previous meningitis. This process leads to a sensorineural hearing loss.
