Lactating adenoma

Reasonably well circumscribed, lobulated, heterogeneous solid mass of 2.5 cm in diameter with blood flow.
Prominent lactiferous ducts adjacent to the nipple in keeping with lactation.
Case Discussion
Biopsy result: cores containing expanded breast lobules with cells showing foamy cytoplasm. No malignant appearing cells.
Lactating adenomas are benign lesions associated with lactation. They represent conglomerations of lactating breast lobules and can grow rapidly (1 week in this case) to a substantial size, thus are of considerable clinical and patient concern but regress once lactation ceases.
