Langerhans cell histiocytosis

Presentation

Non-specific right hip pain.

Patient Data

Age: 4 years
Gender: Male
Modality: X-ray

There is a focal lucency projected of the right ileum.  It has peripheral sclerosis and the appearances of a benign lesion.

Modality: MRI

The right iliac lesion is demonstrated with low T1 and high T2 signal and avid contrast enhancement.  There is associated bone oedema.

Case Discussion

The lesion was biopsied and the diagnosis of Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis was confirmed.  A skeletal survey was performed, but no other lesion was identified.
