Presentation

Low back pain.

Patient Data

Age: Adult

Large extruded disc at LV/S1 level, encroaching upon thecal sac and cauda equina nerve roots with secondary spinal canal stenosis. 

Lower lumbar spondylodegenerative changes are seen, manifested as decreased height and hydration signal of intervertebral discs.

Post-operative examination

L5 laminectomy is seen with decompressed spinal canal and removal of the herniated disc part at L5/S1 level. It shows related subcutaneous collection with low T1 signal and high T2 signal communicating with no dural lining and no postcontrast enhancement, suggestive of postoperative pseudomeningocoele.
