Case contributed by Henry Knipe
Diagnosis certain

Presentation

10 days post fall.

Patient Data

Age: 85 years
Gender: Male

Left cerebral convexity subdural collection, which (compared to CSF) is slightly high T1 signal, high T2 signal with incomplete suppression on FLAIR. Associated blooming artifact.

Right parietal extra-axial collection is smaller with similar T1 characteristics but is difficult to evaluate on the axial T2 and FLAIR sequences due to partial volume artifact. Associated blooming artifact.

Case Discussion

Typical appearances of subdural hematomas, with signal corresponding to the late subacute phase, which correlates with the time since the patient's fall. The initial CT brain on the day of fall did not show any intracranial hemorrhage.
