Presentation
Non-traumatic acute knee pain - lateral aspect. Referred for radiograph.
Patient Data
Calcification lateral to lateral femoral condyle - Probably lateral collateral ligament calcification.
Targeted ultrasound was done on lateral aspect of knee - at point of tenderness. Referring orthopedic surgeon want to know 1 ) ? Popliteus calcification 2 ) ? lateral meniscal cyst.
About 12 x 8 x 4 mm is noted in proximal end of lateral collateral ligament.
Adjacent fluid cleft is noted.
Perilesional hypervascularity is noted.
Ligament is intact.
No Lateral meniscus cyst .
No popliteal tendon rupture / calcification.
Case Discussion
Calcification in proximal end of lateral collateral ligament.
Ultrasound guided needling of calcification was done by referring othropedic surgeon.
