Latissimus dorsi tendon rupture

Acute complete rupture of the right latissimus dorsi tendon from its bicipital groove attachment.  The tendon and myotendinous junction are retracted least 6 cm and there are blood fluid products filling the tendon defect and tracking within the intermuscular planes. The teres major tendon (which inserts posterior to the latissimus dorsi at the bicipital groove remains intact. No other acute injury is identified.  Degeneration of the AC joint with capsular hypertrophy and subarticular marrow hyperintensity.  The capsular hypertrophy causes mild inferior indentation on the supraspinatus musculotendinous junction without evidence of significant tendon or subacromial bursal pathology to indicate impingement.
