Presentation

Presyncopal episodes and mild crepitations in lungs on examination.

Patient Data

Age: 90 years
Gender: Female

Chest

x-ray

X-ray findings include:

  • splaying of the carina

  • mitral valve annular calcification

  • mildly prominent pulmonary vessels and interstitial markings

  • right acromioclavicular joint and rotator cuff degeneration

Case Discussion

Findings in this case are consistent with left atrial enlargement due to mitral valve degeneration.
