Left hemicolectomy on double contrast gastrograffin enema and loopogram

Presentation

27 years old female from the Philippines underwent surgical resection of a large descending colon diverticula, 6 months ago.

Fluoroscopy

Gastrograffin enema

Gastrograffin enema shows complete opacification of the rectum and the remaining rectosigmoid junction.  No colonic masses or colonic strictures. No contrast leakage demonstrated.

Fluoroscopy

Double contrast gastrograffin loopogram

Double contrast gastrograffin loopogram was done by injecting the contrast followed by air in inserted Folly's catheter through the colostomy stoma. No apparent diverticulosis, luminal masses, mucosal abnormalities or strictures.

Case Discussion

This study was done mainly for surgical planning of re-anastomosis of the colon.
