Left hilar mass causing phrenic nerve palsy

Presentation

Left-sided chest pain and SOB. Recent unintentional weight loss.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Female

Left hilar mass extending into the LUL. The left hemidiaphragm is elevated (new compared to CXR 1 year prior).

Case Discussion

The patient had CT workup elsewhere and endobronchial biospy which confirmed small cell lung cancer. Fluoroscopic sniff test confirmed complete palsy of the left phrenic nerve. The patient was a life long smoker.
