Left lower lobe (retrocardiac) lung cancer

Chest pain.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Male
Modality: X-ray

Large opacity projecting over the heart in the medial left lower zone. Cardiac silhouette is not enlarged. Hilum are normal. No convincing mediastinal lymphadenopathy. 


Modality: Nuclear medicine

Large PET-avid mass in the posterior left lower lobe. No evidence of metastatic disease. 

Case Discussion

The patient proceeded to lower lobectomy and a pulmonary squamous cell carcinoma was confirmed.
